Cereal, soft drinks, crackers and dozens of other consumables are sold in solid fiber boxes that require water resistance on the inside. Manufacturers choose water-based barrier coatings because they are cost-effective, FDA-compliant and completely recyclable.
When release is also needed, as with frozen meat patties, folded carton interiors are coated with a Michelman overprint varnish.
Our moisture barrier coatings for chipboard, SBS, SUS® from Graphic Packaging International and kraft paper effectively replace polyethylene films in both food and non-food packaging.
